Our Mind VS Reality

Danielala (n.d.)

From the moment we open our eyes, thoughts start flowing, some of which are even unconscious. There are thousands of thoughts actively flowing through our minds, making connections. It can take up a big part of our day, and if not brought into submission, it can take up a big part of our lives

The average person has 6,200 to 50,000 thoughts a day, and 80% of those thoughts are negative, as the brain is wired to look for threats to ensure survival. With this baseline of the brain's natural working for survival,we have our own stressors that come with the reality of life.

Disappointments happen, setbacks, heartbreaks, loss, and a never-ending list of challenges that life throws at us.

Sometimes these stressors can affect the natural working of the brain and cause us to become overwhelmed.

It can become a dark place if we don't recognize thought patterns that are debilitating and address them.

Our brain is capable of doing vast things, and it processes thoughts that are a reality and some thoughts that aren't a reality. When faced with life's stressors, our judgment can get clouded, and it can become hard to distinguish what's real from what's not. This is where we have to take control. As Paul said in Romans 12:12, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind”.

(Vecteezy)

We cannot just be spectators of our thoughts; we have to take control.

We know that circumstances can cause our willpower to weaken, but there still has to be a choice. We can start by being conscious of what we're thinking. Noticing patterns, beliefs and triggers.

Eventually, through gradual effort, you will be able to address those thoughts and debunk the unreal.

This is your mind and your reality; be conscious.
